Show Parowan Youth Faces A-Bomb Explosion In Tuesday's Tests Desert Rock V Sgt Ellis Orton, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Orton Or-ton of Parowan, was one of the specially assigned Army men who participated in the Atomic maneuver at Camp Desert Rock, Nev. when the atomic device was set off early Tuesday morning. He occupied a forward foxhole during the atomic blast and immediately im-mediately after the blast went forward in skirmishes to mop up an imaginary enemy theoretically theoretical-ly weakened by the A-blast. Exercise Desert Rock V was a sequel to battalion combat team exercises conducted by the Army and the Atomic Energy Commission Commis-sion at the desert site last spring. Sergeant Orton is a member of the Sixth Army operational staff for Desert Rock, where he also assists other troops from all over the country who come to the Ma-jave Ma-jave Desert for this special combat com-bat training. |
