Show Cedar Teams Take Top Flight Exhibition Contests Two of the top teams of the western Utah and Nevada soft-ball soft-ball league, Ford Motor of Pi-oche, Pi-oche, Nev., and the Enterprise L D S team were beaten by the Columbia Iron Mines and the Iron County Record, last Friday evening. In the opening game the Iron Mines battled it out with the Ford Motor of Pioche in a very close game that ended in victory vic-tory for the Mines, 5 to 4. Going into the last half of the teventh inning the Iron Mines were trailing 3 to 4, but put on a brilliant rally that delivered the tying and winning runs in a thrill-packed last inning. The second encounter pitted the Enterprise church team p gainst the Record. The Record trounced the Enterprise team 12 to 2. However, the game was much closer than the score would indicate. Going into the last halt cf the sixth inning the Record led by only one point, 2 to 1, then the Record started a scoring spree that didn't end until 10 runs had been accumulated, making the score 12 to 1. In the top of the seventh Enterprise managed to push over one score to end the game 12 to 2. The Record then played Ford Motor in a short five inning game that ended 4 to 3 for the Record. The games played Friday night were a good preview of the nnnual tournament that is held Kptp At the end of the season. All four of these teams have been represented in the tournament tourna-ment for the past two years and tie expected to meet again this year, in this softball classic of southern Utah. |
