Show Lions Quartet Wins Second Prize at Chicago Convention The quartet from the Cedar City Lions club, representing the state of Utah, almost made it two wins in two years, as they took second prize In a quartet contest at the Lions International Internation-al convention Tuesday in Chicago, Chica-go, 111. Taking first prize in the competition com-petition was the quartet from Reno, Nev. Along with winning first place honors the Reno quartet quar-tet received a cash prize of $500. The Cedar group was awarded $400 by virtue of taking second place honors in the contest. Last year the Cedar quartet took first place honors at the convention which was held in New York. Other ratings were Shawnee, Okla., third; Hillsboro. Ohio fourth; Jackson, Miss., fifth, and Elmhurst, 111., sixth. Eight quar-lets quar-lets took part in the competition. Members of the Cedar City quartet are Herschel Neeley, Reed Roberts, Howard Wood and Eugene Palmer. Reed Berrett is nccompa nist -d irector. |
