Show Know 16nr Grasses i i i I ' SMOOTH BROME J SMOOTH BROME (Bromus inermis) An introduced forage grass from eastern Europe and Asia. Grows well over most of the U. S., except in the South. It grows 2 to 4 feet tall, produces a very heavy crop of good forage, and may be used for pasture or hay. Generally considered consid-ered a cultivated grass crop, but is used for range seeding, seed-ing, particularly in the mountain areas of the West. A cool season grass, it makes luxuriant growth in early spring and also in fall. It has vigorous running rootstocks and spreads rapidly under favorable conditions. It is grazed well by all kinds of livestock. |
