Show Chilean Art Works To Have Showing in Cedar The works of the four leading painters of Chile will be exhibited exhibit-ed in a showing at the Branch Agricultural college auditorium on Feb. 16 and 17. This set of paintings was brought to the United States by Major and Mrs. Oliver W. Har. ris. Mrs. Harris is a native of Chile and Major Harris is the Professor of Air Science and tactics tac-tics at the Branch Agricultural college. The paintings have been on tour receiving wide acclaim by art lovers and critics alike. A recent showing was held at the Louisiana State Museum and Art building in Shreveport, La. This is the first showing In Utah and Cedar City will have the first opportunity to view the Chilean works. The paintings are of various sizes and all are landscapes land-scapes of Chilean settings. Four small scer.ej by Ramon Catalan give the impression of Intimacy and warmth attained by-the use of harmonlus color and sensitive rendering. A sunlight and sha-dow sha-dow effect has been captured by Al Fredo Lobos In his "Refle-Jos" "Refle-Jos" or "Reflections". Paul Lara and Dario Contrearas have seen the magnitude of the Andes and the brilliant coloring of the Chilean Chil-ean landscapes which they have captured with sure strokes of mastery. According to Mrs. Harris the artists have not exaggerated the natural beauty of Chile and she will be on hand to give a more complete description of each painting. |
