Show Fathers Should Participate in P.T.A. As the Parent-Teacher Association of Cedar City plans for its anniversary celebration, we are wondering why so many of the men folks figure that PTA responsibilities are something for the women folks to take care of. Fathers of the children in school seem to think that the only thing necessary is for them to pay the small membership member-ship fee and then forget about the organization. Surely they are as interested in the welfare of their children as are the mothers, but if they are it is hard to understand their attitude about the organization. The PTA offers the parents an opportunity to work with the schools in providing better advantages for their children, child-ren, and also an opportunity to have a closer contact with, and voice in, the affairs of the schools. Many mothers visit vis-it the school, and attend classroom functions, but seldom is a father seen at these functions. Next time the parents are invited to any school meeting or program, we hope the Dads will go along and give the school and the children a little more support. |
