Show Education Board Selects Site For Beryl School Location of the new school building to be erected in the Beryl area has been definitely decided by the Board of Education, Educa-tion, and authorization was given giv-en Monday to purchase the land. The site selected will be just east of the REA building on the Newcastle Modena highway, near the Junction with the Enterprise road. One of the major' reasons for selecting this site was the fact that the problem of protecting protect-ing the property would be much less there because of the fact thtit it is adjacent to buildings that are occupied at all times. The location is also as convenient to the children who will attend as any other that was considered. consid-ered. The board also approved Robert Rob-ert L. Gardner as architect to prepare plans for a school building build-ing at Beryl. He will begin his study of needs in the near future, fu-ture, so that a decision as to the size of the building can be reached reach-ed at an early date. Considering the problem of a building program at the Parowan high school, the board decided to ask that the State Department Depart-ment of Education provide an expert in the field of school building needs to make a study of the situation, and advise the board on the matter. If such an expert is sent to the county for this purpose, he may also help make a study of the needs in the Beryl area. A decision was also reached by the Board to purchase a new school bus to replace one of the old buses now in use. Bids will be opened at the next meeting of the Board, to be held on March 13. Bids for furniture and equipment equip-ment for the new elementary school under construction in Ce dar City will also be opened on March 13. These bids call for the furnishing of desks, chairs, tables, kitchen equipment, a piano and other items needed for the new school. |
