Show w r Ilaulical Holes By tUl HtNDMM&f Since the outbreak of hostilities on December 7, 1941, the Navy Recruiting Re-cruiting Station at Cedar City has enlisted 153 men in the Naval Service. Ser-vice. When I speak of the recruiting recruit-ing station at Cedar City, I am taking tak-ing in all of Southern Utah. The population of our district in Southern South-ern Utah la approximately 56,341. This means that Your Navy has enlisted en-listed .0027 percent of the population popula-tion of this entire district since the outbreak of the war. Let it be thoroughly understood that all enlistments In the Naval Service at the present time are for the duration of the war and are entirely en-tirely voluntary. During the past week, five men from Southern Utah volunteered their services to the United States Navy. HONOR ROLL: Junius Crawford Ruesch, 20. son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Ruesch. Sprlngdale, Utah. Pan-guitch. -USN- Opportunities for the high school graduate are greater today than ever before. For example, let me point out a few of the branches that the Naval service has to offer. Today, a high school graduate may be enlisted directly Into the medical oorps of the Navy, and after his period of Indoctrination he will be sent to the Navy Hospital Corps School at San Diego, California. If the graduate Is fortunate enough to hold a first aid certificate, he may be enlisted in the Medical corps as a Hospital Apprentice first class which is equivalent to the rating of corporal in the Army. The Navy has recently dropped the requirements for Class V-5 which is the Navy Air Corps. Two years of college are no longer neoes-sary-the high school graduate is eligible. -TJSN- Your Navy Recruiting station which is located In the Post Office building in Cedar City, will be happy hap-py to explain any branch of the service. -USN- Have you noticed the new station wagon that we are using now? The chiefs (Ed and Ern) won't let me ride in It I get so conceited my white hat keeps poppin off. |
