Show Auxiliary Sets May. 23rd. As Poppy Day Poppies of ptariotic remembrance will bloom in Cedar City on Saturday, Satur-day, May 23, Mrs. Idona Smith, president of the American Legion Auxiliary, announced today. Every man, woman and child in the city will be a.sked to wear a poppy on that day in honor of the men who have given their lives for America. The poppies will be distributed dis-tributed by volunteer workers from the Auxiliary and the coins contributed contri-buted for them will be used in Legion Le-gion and Auxiliary work for the war disabled, their families and the families of the dead. The poppies which will be distributed distri-buted here have been made by disabled dis-abled veterans at Salt Lak City Making the little red flowers has given many veterans employment during the winter and spring months. The work is limited to men rtceivin; little or no government, compensation and those with families fam-ilies to support. Contributions received for the poppies on Poppy Day are a principal prin-cipal source of support for the vast welfare wink carried out by the Legion and Auxiliary among tin-disable,! tin-disable,! men and dependent families. fam-ilies. With the new war adding to America's list of victims, there will be greatily increased need for funds during the coming year. |
