Show Fourteen Paintings Purchased at Local Art Exhibit The Third Annual Cedar City Art Exhibit came to a close Sunday night after a two weeks run during which time many people visited the exhibit and enjoyed the Sunday afternoon af-ternoon programs, presented in connection. Each visitor was asked to name his choice of the pictures on display, dis-play, with the result that the popular popu-lar choice of the exhibit was "The Road to the Farm," by Lynn Fau-sett. Fau-sett. A total of fourteen paintings exhibited ex-hibited this yenr were purchased locally, lo-cally, which together with thirteen that had been purchased at previous pre-vious exhibits brings the total remaining re-maining in our communiy up to twenty-seven. This demonstrates conclusively the Influence the annual an-nual art exhibit Is having on the art consciousness of local people, and the increase of art appreciation on the part of those who are visiting the exhibits each year. Two paintings were purchased by the Iron County School District for the Parowan High school. "Utah Hills," by B. F. Larson, and "Of The Soil," by Cornelius Salisbury. The Cedar high school added five paintings to its collection, purchasing purchas-ing the following: "Rain Away," by Lee Clarke Schuyler, "Earth Forms and Rain," by H. B. Schleeter, "Stock and Stubble," by Eva Van Eck, "Blowout-Silvery Morning" by Dwight Kirsch, and "The Road to! the Farm," by Lyn Fausett. Paintings purchased by the Branch Agricultural College included the following: "Trout Fisherman," by Vance Kirkland, "Aspens," by B. F. Larson, "Fertile Fields," by Howell How-ell Rosenbaum, and "Mountain Range," by Gordon Cope. H. B. Schleeter's "Trees in the Wind" was purchased by the L.D.S. Institute of Religion, Ethel Strausov Paul's "Canyon of Snake River" by the Cedar Junior high school, and Kva Van Ek's "So Red the Rose" was purchased privately. Paintings purchased from previous exhibits are as follows: Tijeras Canyon Village," by Lee Clarke Scruyler; "The Old Mill," by Orson D. Campbell; "Clarkson Mountain," by Henri Moser; "Ladv Bronc Rider," by Peter Hurd; "Aspen "As-pen Grove," by Orson D. Campbell: "Spring," by Flora D. Fisher; "Ln-gan "Ln-gan River," by Mary L. Bastow; "Landscape," by Mary L. Bastow; "Red Rocks in April," by Vance Kirkland; "Prelude to Evening," by B. L. Larson; "Tiger Lillies," by Flora D. Fisher; "Utah Sage," by Paul Salisbury; and "Navajo Shepherd," Shep-herd," by Cornelius Salisbury, |
