Show Ability fair scheduled "No Limits in The Nineties,' an ability fair, is scheduled for Oct 6, at Valley Fair in West Valley City, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fair will feature exhibits from community agencies who serve people with disabilities plus prizes, a wheelchair obstacle course, and demonstrations by disabled artists. The fair will show how disabled people work, communicate, com-municate, travel and play particularly through accommodations accommoda-tions and technology. The purpose of 'No Limits in The Nineties" is to create an awarenessespecially among employers who need qualified workers and people who have disabled family members or friends of how people with disabilities are able to live and work independently. Disabled people are no longer "needy or "helpless." They are no longer ' bound by their "handicaps." They truly have "no limits in the 90's" due to several trendschanging social views, an increased need for skilled workers in the marketplace, the assistance of adaptive technology and accommodations, accom-modations, and the growing population popula-tion of people with disabilities. The fair is being sponsored by Ability Utah and Western Rehabilitation Institute. Ability Utah is a non-profit organization based in Salt Lake City. It creates employment opportunities for people peo-ple with disabilities through job development de-velopment and recreation programs. |
