In the final event, Amber Martin placed second in freestyle, Group A, and Macy Pew was second overall in Group B. Amby Pew placed fourth in both the original and long program for Novice Ladies, and she placed fifth in the original program for the final event. Justine Bagley was awarded the Karen S. Johnson Memorial Award for having received the highest number of first place ratings in figures fig-ures for a Sub-Juvenile skater. Special Junior Board Trophy awards also were given to Rachelle Buckner in Pre-Pre, and Piper Br-inghurst Br-inghurst in Intermediate. These awards recognized the most inspirational inspira-tional or artistic skater in each division. By TOM HARALDSEN B OUNTIFUL Figure skaters from Davis County and the Wasatch Wa-satch Front are just beginning the 1991 season. Part of the excitement of each new season of competition is having to team new programs and how to fit more advanced jumps and spins with new music. Members of the Utah Figure Skating Club (UFSQ of Bountiful completed a successful 1990 season with summer competitions. In Phoenix earlier this summer, local skaters earned honors in the following follow-ing areas of competition: Rachelle Buckner, third overall in Pre-Prelirninary Group A; Sara Brunson, third overall in Pre-Prelirninary Pre-Prelirninary Group C; Neone Jones, third in freestyle Preliminary; Katie Adams, third overall in fteliminary; Justine Bagley, first in figures and second in freestyle, and second overall in Sub-Juvenile; and Jennifer Jen-nifer Archibald, second in figures and third overall in Preliminary Group C. Intermediate skaters from the UFSC who placed in the top four of their first events were Katrina George, 2nd in figures, Group A; Jenny Palmer, third in figures. Holly Cook will compete in the Skate Electric Competition, Oct. 1-4. |
