Weber has been touted by region coaches as "the team to beat in region one." In spite of the loss, Viking Coach Julia Bradley was pleased with her doubles play. Both Viewmont 's number one and two doubles teams remain undefeated. Bradley said, "Weber hasn't got the region sewn up yet They only beat us by one point The region match should be really close and exciting." Originally scheduled for Sept. 18, the ViewmontBonneville match had to be rescheduled for Sept. 21 due to rain. Viewmont trounced the Lakers 5-0. i Region One inter-school meets will finish today, and the region tournament will begin Thursday morning at Roy High School at 9 a.m. 4 By G.BRETT HART Last week was the week of reckoning for three of the four South Davis girls' tennis teams. Davis High managed to emerge unbeaten while Woods Cross, Bountiful and Viewmont all suffered suf-fered losses in region competition, each team facing its toughest region matches to date. BOUNTIFUL Previously undefeated, Bountiful went into last week's competition knowing that it would be the most difficult the team had faced during the season. On Sept 18, the Braves traveled to West losing 3-2. According to Braves Coach Jack Senninger, the match could have . gone either way. On Sept. 20, the Braves hosted the toughest 3A team in the state, Judge. Judged defeated Bountiful 5-0. Senninger expected the match to be tough. In spite of the loss, Senninger remains hopeful that Bountiful will do well in the region tournament and that there is a good chance that Bountiful number one singles player, Christine Barrett, will be tied for second seed in the region. Senninger did find some bright spots in his team's play last week saying he was impressed with his number two doubles team of Julie Williams and Nanette Stewart. WOODS CROSS The Wildcats hosted Judge on Sept. 18 losing 5-0 but turned around and edged Murray 3-2. Woods Cross beat Murray on the strength of its three singles players, Molly Mason, Vicky Wood and Melissa Dixon. Woods Cross Coach Craig Glover looked forward to his girls chances in the region tournament saying that if Mason could be seeded seed-ed third, she wouldn't meet the better players until the later rounds. According to Glover, this would give her a chance to gather momentum momen-tum before meeting the toughest region players. Region Six will hold its region tournament Oct 1 and 2 at Liberty Park.
