Show Paiute Women's Conference scheduled CEDAR CITY - The Paiute Tribal Office here is coordinating "Women's Conference 1982" Friday and Saturday. It will be conducted at the Paiute Tribal Office in Cedar City. The conference is sponsored by the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, the Paiute Education Committee, the Paiute Department of Education and the Paiute Women's Resource Committee. There is no charge for the two days of activities, and everyone is welcome to attend. Child care will be provided at a small charge. More information in-formation is available by calling Celeste Denton at 586-1111. The conference will begin Friday with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. This will be followed by a presentation by Marguerite Lane, "Women in Tribal Government." This will be followed at 9:30 by Geneal Anderson, who will also address the topic of "Women in Tribal Government." From 10 a.m. to 12 noon Howard Rainer will discuss "Self-Image Motivation. There will be a short break from 10:45 to 11 a.m. Lunch will be from 12 noon until 1 p.m., followed by Ken Joseph who will discuss "Alcohol Abuse-Treatment, Fetal Syndrome" from 1 to 3 p.m. From 3:15 until 5, Betty Kingsford and Celeste Denton will discuss "Mentoring-Networking." Dinner break will be from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by Jean Chaudhuri, who will speak on "Women in the Traditional Life" at 7 p.m. On Saturday, activities will begin at 9 a.m., with Jeanne Whiting discussing "Legal Rights of Indians-Cases of Famous Native American Women." There will be a break from 10:30 to 11, followed by a discussion of "Legal Rights of Indians-Paiute Restoration." From 12 noon until 2 p.m., Betty Kingsford and Celeste Denton wil present "Women's Network Film." There will be a $3 charge for the luncheon. From 2 to 3 p.m., there will be cultural entertainment. |
