Show Xady Reds volleyballers fair well in region action CEDAR CITY - The 'Lady Reds volleyball team picked up one win and two losses in league play during the past week. Their big win came against Dixie last weekend in Dixie territory. In the first game of the match the Lady Reds pulled together to win 15-11 by getting all but four serves over. The second game started slower, but Kristy Newcomb and Traci McLery led the team from 8 to 15 points for a final score of 15-8, and the girls dedicated the win to Wendy Schultz who had been injured in an automobile accident earlier that day. Paula Sawyer was high spiker of the night with a total of 10. On Oct. 4 Cedar hosted Carbon to two full varsity games and came out on the short end of both matches. The first match resulted in scores of 15-9 and 15-9, for Carbon. Following a junior varsity match consisting of two games, the two varsity teams met again (for their second league match; but the Lady Reds were unable to control the Dino's power spiker Sandy Anderson or to bounce back from the earlier defeats. They lost the two games 15-7 and 15-4 respectively. The junior varsity also picked up a big win over Dixie by winning two out of three gmes. |
