' .(:' f cv ) J k S ' : la i y i .y A weary John Pragle crosses the finish line at the St. George Marathon Saturday. Pragle completed the 26.2 mile event in a time of 2:46.33. Pragle has competed in several marathons including the San Francisco Marathon conducted this summer. Local men complete t. George marathon CEDAR CITY - The sixth annual St. George Marathon was conducted over the weekend, and several Iron County runners did quite well. Over 1,700 runners competed in the 26.2 mile event which winds it's way down Highway 18 into St. George. The marathon was won by veteran runner Paul Cummings who finished the course in 2:18.53. John Pragle, Cedar City, was the first Iron County resident to finish the course, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:46.31. Pragle finished a respectable 78th place in the event. Also breaking the three hour mark was Steve Hedges who finished in 2:59.34. Just over three hours ' were veteran Cedar City runners Richard Anderson, An-derson, completing his first marathon, and James Dunaway. Closely behind them was Bob Corry. Other runners to be congratulated for finishing, are ' Richarcl Cwik, Clay Alderson, Fred Donnell, John Pensis and Stan Soren-son. Soren-son. Of the more than 1,700 runners in the event, over 1,200 finished. The St. George Marathon is the largest marathon in the state. 9 f - I J ' i - ' Color Country Roadrunner president Frank Montana presents a trophy to John Pragle for being the first Iron County finisher in the St. George Marathon. A trophy will be presented annually to the first Iron County resident in the event. |
