Show SU9s season of theater begins promises to be exciting as ever "Expect the unexpected! A season of surprises." Another fantastic season of theater is beginning at the Southern Utah State College Theater Arts Department, a season for everyone, a season that should be as good as or better than some of the very good seasons in the past few years. The theater arts department, and the performances per-formances it presents each year, is just one more of the many opportunities available to the people of Iron County and southern Utah. It is another of those expeiences one wouldn't expect to find in a small town in the middle of the desert. Yet it is there. Unfortunately, and we underscore unfortunately, it seems that the people of the area aren't taking full advantage of the offerings; yet, we should. A lot of activiities the past few months have packed in large crowds in Cedar City. But one of them wasn't the repeat performance of "Godspell" at the college Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The auditorium was nowhere near full the three nights. Yet, if you missed it, there is much more to look forward to this winter (ticket information is available by calling the SUSC Box Office, 586-7876) : "A Midsummer Night's Dream," by William Shakespeare, will be presented Nov. 12, 13 and 18-20. 18-20. "An Evening of One-Acts," directed by SUSC Directing II students, will be performed Dec. 8-11. "The Lion in Winter," by James Goldman, will be Jan. 12-15. "The Matchmaker," by Thornton Wilder, will be Feb. 11, 12 and 17-19. - "Deathtrap," by Ira Levin, will be performed April 15, 16 and 20-23. "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," with music and lyrics by Stephen Son-dheim, Son-dheim, will be staged May 13, 14 and 19-21. Take an evening out. Attend the theater. "You'll be caught in the act." |
