Show Proclamation signed Cedar City's 129th birthday bir-thday celebration, within Cedar City, Iron County, State of Utah, for the purpose of remembering the pioneer heritage of this area." In conjunction with Cedar City's upcoming 129th birthday, Mayor Jack Sawyers recently signed a proclamation acclaiming Nov. 3 through 15 as Iron Mission Days. The proclamation also set aside Nov. 11 as the day for the city's birthday bir-thday celebration. Included in the celebration's activities will be Heritage Appreciation Ap-preciation Week Nov. 3 through 8. The Cedar City public schools with study the history of the area; area merchants will have special exhibits and sales; and clerks will dress in pioneer costume, said Iron Mission Days Committee Chairman Tom Challis. Nov. 11, the actual day of Cedar's birthday, will be celebrated with special activities throughout the day. These will include the dedication of the new Iron Mission .Monument Carriage House. Other activities will include a special flag raising ceremony, the annual DUP meeting, the annual VFW dinner, a special no-host dinner at the Iron Mission Monument, and, of course, the Annual Cedar City Birthday Ball, featuring a live orchestra, or-chestra, a floor show, refreshments and a birthday birth-day cake. Also, the DUP Museum will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. and at other times by appointment. The text of the proclamation read as follows: "To honor and show respect for our pioneer tradition, it is appropriate ap-propriate that as a city we acknowledge the sacrifices rendered and hardships suffered by our forefathers.
