Show Hurricane F. F. A. Boys Hear Outstanding Talks By ELDEAN HARTLEY -HURRICANE, Utah, Feb. 4. Monday, Feb. 5th, the Hurricane chapter of F. F. A. was privileged to hear talks from two outstanding outstand-ing men in the field of agriculture, agricul-ture, also one from a purchasing agent for Safeway stores. Dr. Orvil Stark's talk, of the XJ. S. A. C. extension division, was on cultural practices necessary to produce high grade fruit, also, of proper pruning and thinning of jpeaches. Professor Carpenter of the 3J. S. A. C. extension division in -agricultural economics, talked on the advantages of cooperative remarketing, and told us of the demand de-mand for Utah Dixie peaches. A Mr. Hoffman, purchasing agent for Safeway stores, told us "what Safeway intended doing in the way of fruit purchasing this ;year, what types were needed and how to pack them. At 3:00 p.m., Mr. Stark gave a splendid demonstration of prun-- prun-- ing. We feel that this type of work is beneficial to us as it helps us to produce a superior fruit to those who do not have the knowledge knowl-edge of such things. |
