Show Corporal Truman Reports Everything Going 'Pretty Swell' In Camp By Corp. Spencer Truman We are happy to inform you that everything is going pretty swell down here. It has been raining for the past week, but we are getting used to the mud and water by now. We are also very glad to welcome Lieutenant Cannon back to our company. We have missed him very much during his five week training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Over the week-end there were five men who went to Los Angeles and three who went to San Francisco. Fran-cisco. Lieutenant Anderson went to Los Angeles to visit his wife and friends, with Lieutenant Moss accompanying him to also visit friends and relatives. One special train leaves camp at one o'clock every Saturday for Los Angeles and one for San Franciscos They leave there to come back to camp at 10 p. m. Sunday. There is a special rate for soldiers, which is $4.75 for a round trip. Although we have had bad weather we have kept pretty near our drill schedule. The time has been spent in first aid, which was conducted by the medical detachment. detach-ment. We have had extended hikes with a light pack. We have had instruction in marksmanship and demolitions and demonstrations demonstra-tions of obstacles and extended order. Co: "C" drew the regimental formal guard for next Wednesday. This is a formal guard mount and will be witnessed by everyone in the regiment. Sergeant Evan Pickett Pic-kett will be the Sergeant in charge with Corporals Banard Hafen, Carlos Lang, and Edward Woodbury Wood-bury in charge of the three guard reliefs. There will also be twenty-four twenty-four privates in the guard. The third inoculation for typhoid ty-phoid fever was given to the men Saturday. Privates Wayne Wor-then, Wor-then, Dall Black and Earl Hafen were taken to the hospital during the week for laryngitis but they are improving. In case some one would like to know who all is in the Company a roster of the Company has been made. For those who it will interest and we are sure it will interest all, Pvt. George Marion's eye has been operated on and some steel that he accidentally got in his eye while at St. George has been removed. We are very happy to inform you that the operation was very successful. We also have the report from the boys at the hospital hos-pital that they are all doing nicely and expect to be back with us shortly. Company "C" has a display in the Company Office of the Utah State Flag sent to us by the St. George Chapter of the D.U.P. for which the men are very appreciative. apprecia-tive.
