Show Old Established St. j George Firm Changes Hands On Wed. i After forty years, the St. George Drug store passed Wednesday into new ownership, and became the Benward Drug store, with the purchase of the business by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Benward of Chur-ubusco, Chur-ubusco, Indiana. It will continue, i however, as a Rexall store. ! Coming to St. George in 1900, Dr. and Mrs. Walter R. Pike of Provo established the St. George Drug store and established an 1 enviable place for themselves in the city, where Mrs. Pike has been prominent in social and music circles. They came first in the interest of Doctor Pike's health. After his death in 1920, his son and Mrs. Pike continued to manage the business for a long period. She has since filled a short L. D. S. mission in the eastern east-ern states, and has resided part of the time in Los Angeles, the store having been operated by her two brothers, Dean A. Clark, now of Hurricane, and the late Dr. Clarence Clark, at different Periods. Mr. and Mrs. Benward arrived Tuesday evening with their daughter daugh-ter Miss Betty and son, Billy benward, ben-ward, and Mrs. Benward's mother, Mrs. Eunice Jones. An older son, Bruce Benward is doing his junior year at the state University of Bloomington, Ind. Hugh Cotton, a boy who has made his home with them will graduate from Purdue this June. Both boys will join them for the summer. Learning through the Rexall Trade Journal a year ago that the St. George Drug was for sale, Mr. and Mrs. Benward came out to investigate and were well impressed. im-pressed. They have planned through the year to dispose of their business in Churubusco and locate in St. George. This was made possible when they sold out a few days ago and made negotiations nego-tiations by phone with Mrs. Pike for her business.
