Show Roscoe W. Eardley Talks At Meeting of L.D.S. Welfare Group "Plant, produce, preserve and accumulate ac-cumulate a surplus in all the commodities essential to sustaining sustain-ing life and do this at once in order that we may be prepared for eventualities of a not too distant future," was the message left by Roscoe W. Eardley in charge of the Storehouse projects of the L.D.S. welfare program at the meeting held Monday evening in the basement of the stake Tabernacle Tab-ernacle and attended by Bishops, relief society workers, priesthood quorums and welfare workers of St. George stake. Pres. Harold S. Snow presided at the meeting. Others attending officially were chief welfare accountant Jackson and canning expert, Mr. Schmidt, of Salt Lake City, and Pres. William Wil-liam R. Palmer of Cedar City, in charge of the Virgin River district of the church welfare program. Facing the seriousness of a depression de-pression following the present European conflict that in the words of the speaker "Will make the past situation like a happy holiday," Mr. Eardley stressed the need of leaving no stone unturned in providing against need and want such as we had never dreamed possible in this era of civilization. People were urged to con-erve every available product and to add to whatever stores may now he on hand that the time of distress dis-tress may not find us wantin-. |
