Show East Ward Plans Big Celebration For May Day, 1st of May May Day, your calendar marks It one week from today (Thursday), will be an all-time big day in St. George according to committee and officers of the L. D. S. East ward who are planning a gala entertainment, with the double purpose of making people happy on that day and making the first big drive for funds for their much needed chapel which they hope to construct in the near future. Center place for the full afternoon after-noon and evening's events will be the public square with the Tabernacle, Tab-ernacle, Woodward high school gym and the Recreation hall all being put to use, respectively, for the evening of old-time concert, the lunch and dinner counters and (Continued on page eight) East Ward Fete (Continued from first page) the other features of entertainment. entertain-ment. Beginning at 4 p. m., the Primary Prim-ary organization will sponsor the junior dance in the Recreation hall which will be free. At 6:30 p.m., the events for adults begin. The East ward Relief Re-lief Society women under direction direc-tion of Mrs. George H. Seeg-miller Seeg-miller state they will have plenty of the good things to eat at a small cost for every family in town. They urge all other mothers to make this their "eating out" evening and give every member of the family a real treat. Concert At 8 p. m. At 8 p. m., the old-fashioned concert, under direction of Mrs. Arthur Paxman will take place in the Tabernacle. This is to be a real event. All of the old-time favorites in music, singing and costumes will be presented. The concert is free, but of course those who attend will want to leave a contribution at the door, with memories stirred by the program pro-gram of a lifetime. Those who have heard some of the practices assure the public this will be a rare feature of the program. All afternoon and evening the country store will be operating with values to cajole the purse wide open and interest bargainers among men, women and children. |
