Show 1 Hurricane i Julia Whitney Reporter Chauncey Sandberg attended the J southern Utah bankers' convention conven-tion in Gunnison, on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Noall of Cedar City were here visiting at the home of Mrs. Pauline Campbell. Camp-bell. The Alice Louise Reynolds club met Friday at the home of Mrs. Margaret Nuttall. Audrey Stevens Stev-ens reviewed the book, "Goya", i.y Charles Poore and Mrs. Leah Wadsworth gave the geography lesson on Mexico. Mrs. Ruby Weill) and Mrs. Margaret Nuttall were hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. George A. Haycock Hay-cock of Nysoa, Oregon, are visiting visit-ing at the home of Leo K. Homer. Mrs. Erma Stevens was a weekend week-end visitor in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Ivan Langston spent Friday Fri-day to Sunday in Springville visiting vis-iting her brothers and sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Dell lverson of Pioehe, were week-end visitors at the home of her parents, Mr. and M'-s. Lorenzo Spendlove. Mrs. Ivan Langston gave her daughter, Nedra, a surprise party honoring her tenth birthday anniversary an-niversary on October 12. Miss Langston's Primary class were the p-uests. Robert Burgener has been very ill with an infection in his arm resulting from a fall. He became ill during the week-end and it became be-came necessary to send for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Burgener who were attending the U. E. A. convention in Salt Lake City. He is reported to be improving im-proving now. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jones of Pioche, are visiting with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Isom. James Stanworth was honored on his seventy-second birthday anniversary an-niversary on Sunday, October 13 by a trip to Zion Park. His children met together and made the trip with him, spending the day at the park. Registration of men specified by law took place here Wednesday, October 16 in the North ward chapel. The North ward registered regis-tered in the morning and the South ward in the afternoon to avoid confusion. Those who registered, reg-istered, along with their partners, were admitted free to the Lyceum Ly-ceum "Laubon Indians" and the high school dance. Mr. and Mrs. William Sullivan and daughter, Vivien, spent Thursday to Sunday with their son, Carlyle Sullivan and family in Las Vegas. Mrs. Thomas Stanworth entertained enter-tained the Card club on Wednesday Wednes-day evening. Mrs. Glen Williams won the first prize and Mrs. Ora Reeve the consolation prize. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stanworth and family spent Sunday in Cedar City visiting Mr. Stanworth's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Stanworth. Stan-worth. Mrs. Mae Petty went with them to visit her daughter, who is in the Iron county hos-nital The Hurricane North and South ward High Priests are now completing com-pleting their cane project. Tuesday Tues-day morning they cut and hauled to the molasses mill the two acres which they had. The molasses mo-lasses will be turned in to the Church Security. John Imlay is now home after a recent appendicitis operation at the Iron county hospital. Miss Pearl Baker spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. riean Cooper and brother, Paul Baker in Cedar City. Miss Wealthy Campbell and Miss Fstella Isom entertained at a waffle supper on Monday evening. eve-ning. The party was given in honor of Mrs. Phyllis Welsh, who is leaving Tuesday for Yellow Springs, Ohio, where she will join her husband. She and Mrs. LeeAnna Kaupferer will leave together to-gether and will travel with Mr. and Mrs. Coy Anderson who are also going to Indiana. Mrs. Kaupferer Kaup-ferer is going to Terre Haute, Indiana. Florence Beatty and Gwen Sylvester left recently for Cedar City where they are employed.' Mrs. Eliza Wood of Winslow, Ariz., spent a few days of last week visiting her uncle, Mrs. James Jennings. James Jepson. one of Hurricane's Hurri-cane's earliest Pioneers, and the first president of the Hurricane Canal Co., was honored on his on Sunday evening by a party eighty-sixth birthday anniversary given by Mrs. Thomas Isom. Mrs. Harold Reeve and Mrs. Martha Isom. Closest friends and relatives rela-tives were invited for an evening of singing and story telling. Light refreshments were served. Mrs. Ruth Hardy and Mrs. Lucille Lu-cille Abbott and daughter of Boulder City, were visitors at the J. W. Imlay home during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. William Webb of Salt Lake City are visiting at the home of their son. Glenn Webb. They plan to remain there for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Anderson and child of Murray, spent a few days last week-end visiting his brother, Harold Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson of Murray were with them. They plan to return by way of the National parks. |
