Show Hurricane Fire Causes $5000 Loss On Vednesday Fire Hard To Control As It Burns Beneath Floors of Buildings By JULIA WHITNEY Staff Writer 'HURRICANE, Utah, Oct. 16. A large fire, beginning in Ivan's : beer parlor and spreading through-' through-' out the building, caused an esti- mated damage of $5,000 today in i this city's business district. The ! cause of the fire hasn't been dis-j dis-j covered. I The fire was discovered about j 8 :30 a.m., by Eugene Wadsworth, j proprietor of the theatre. The fire ! followed underneath the floor and it was very difficult to control. Ivan Stanworth suffered the greatest damage in the beer par- lor. Those who suffered less se-; se-; vere damage due to the fire were: : the drug store, proprietor Dean : Clark; theatre, proprietor Eugene Wadsworth; Edith's Dress shop, proprietors Don and Edith Hutchinson; Hutch-inson; and the poolroom. Graff's Mercantile Co., owned by E. J. Graff, suffered some loss from the water that was used to extinguish the fire.
