Show Receives Air medal with oak leaf cluster Captain Robert M. Gee, son of Raymond and Vergie Gee of Vernal, was recently presented the U.S. Air Force Medal with the Fifth Oak Leaf Cluster. In the citation accompanying the award, Cptn. Gee was commended for "Distinguishing himself by meritorious achievement while participating m aerial flight as Aircraft Commander on March 12, 1980. On that date while piloting a C-141A aircraft from Clark Air Base, Philippines to Tengah Royal Air Base, Singapore, Captain Gee displayed exceptional leadership qualities and superior knowledge of the aircraft systems and emergency procedures. Cpt. Gee experienced total loss of the number 2 aircraft hydraulic system and was unable to lower the main landing gear. His problems were complicated by the loss of the number 3 engine. He calmly and systematically directed his crew to perform numerous malfunction analysis procedures until the gear was successfully lowered and an uneventful landing was accomplished ac-complished at Singapore.
