The Cougars had problems early as they fumbled the ball on their first play and it was recovered by the Wasps at the Union 29 yard line. Robbie Edwards lobbed a 29 yard pass to Clayton Cook for a touchdown touch-down early in the first quarter and Keith Colson connected on an extra point kick to give Wasatch a 7-0 lead. Things continued to go wrong for the Cats in the game as Wasatch gained a safety and Colson nabbed a 33 yard field goal to give the Wasps a 12-0 lead at halftime. Wasatch added a touchdown touch-down and a safety in the third quarter and a touchdown in the fourth quarter, which made the final score: Wasatch, 28 and Union, 0. Edwards completed 15 out of 24 passes for 195 yards and Butch Murdoch Mur-doch rushed 70 yards to help the Wasps retain a perfect Region 9 mark of 3-0. Lehi is tied with Wasatch for first place at 3-0. Morgan is in third place at 2-1 and Grantsville is in fourth place at 1-2. Union and Emery are tied for fifth place at 0-3. "A couple of early mistakes hurt us," say Jay Omer, Union head football coach. The Cougars will host Emerv. Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and will battle Grantsville on the road, Oct. 23. Emery has suffered region losses to Lehi, Grantsville and Morgan. Union has dropped region games to Lehi, Morgan and Wasatch. Union has scored 15 points in three games and has had 73 points scored against them. Emery has - : scored 25 points and has had 77 scored against them. Grantsville has gained 23 j .: points and has had 74 scored against '. them. Emery and Morgan failed to score any points in the first half, Friday. Morgan gained a 7-0 lead when Carl Wiscombe hit Dave Christiansen with an 11 yard touchdown pass and Tom , Vorasane converted an extra point kick. ' Matt McCain ran for the second touchdown on an intercepted pass and Wiscombe"s two-point conversion pushed the score to 15-0. |
