Show Christmas Seal campaign starts by Utah Lung Assn. If you discard a white envelope with red and green writing on it from the Utah Lung Association, you may be throwing away someone's chance for better health, according to Glade Sowards, Vernal, member of the association board of directors. The hard facts are that 54 million Americans, children and adults, suffer from respiratory problems. Chances are, someone you know is suffering from one of these diseases. Today kicks off the opening day of the Christmas Seal Campaign sponsored by the Utah Lung Association. Nearly 300,000 letters will be sent to Utah residents during October. Included in each letter is a special message from Bob Hope, National Christmas Seal Chairman, asking citizens to make generous contributions for life and breath. The purpose of the Utah Lung Association is to prevent and control all forms of lung disease including em-, physema, tuberculosis, and asthma, Mr. Sowards said. The Utah Lung Association has designed and administered many programs pro-grams to help people who are afflicted with lung disease. The Association is currently pioneering a new program to help children cope with asthma. It is a simple program which teaches relaxation, relaxa-tion, physical exercise and breathing skills to the children, including preschoolers. "The program has been very successful suc-cessful thus far, but it lacks funding for further development," Mr. Sowards said. "When your Utah Lung Association letter arrives please take a moment to read it. Then take advantage of the opportunity op-portunity it offers you to assist someone who desperately needs your help," he said. |
