Show The Uintah Utes have suffered seven homecoming losses since 1975 for a 0-7 record. Uintah has dropped homecoming games toLehi, 32-26. 1975; Spanish Fork, 6-0, 1976; Timpview, 21-6, .1977; Union, 22-12, 1978; Tooele, 21-20, 1979; Cyprus, 21-13. 1980 and Pleasant Grove, 21-0, 19S1. Uintah's homecoming games should be scheduled a week earlier because ' the Utes have a 4-3record in games just before the homecoming contest. Uinuah was blanket? by American Fork, 28-0 in 1975 and i4-t"4.i-k??, but the Utes gained a blanking of their own in 1977 when they blasted the Carbon Dinos, 40-0. 40-0. The Utes jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter of the game on a six yard, run for a touchdown by Finley Horrocks, which was set up on a fumble recovery by the Utes at the Carbon 32 yard line. jr. Tripp intercepted a pass by the Dinos and darted 20 yards for the Utes' second touchdown early in the second quarter. Uintah decked the Carbon punter in the end zone in the third quarter for a safety and a 14-0 lead. The Utes added 20 points in the fourth quarter for a 40-0 w in. Lance Morton darted 34 yards for a touchdown and a few minutes later Morton scored another touchdown. Morgan -Woodhouse connected with Garson Chivers for a two point conversion. con-version. Uintah acquired its final touchdown w hen Woodhouse fired a six yard aerial to Chivers. which made the score 40-0 in favor of the Utes. Uintah lost the game-before-the-homeeoming -contest by the score of 27-0 27-0 to Cyprus in 1978. but since then the Utes have won three games-before-the-homecoming-contest in a row due to a 43-21 w in over Green River. 1979: a 12-7 win over Tooele. 1980 and a 33-28 win over Timpview. 1981, for an overall game-before-t he-homecoming-contest record of 4-3. The Utes had a 43 to 7 lead w ith 7:18 left in the third quarter and twelve minutes were still left to play in the fourth quarter. Green River scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter in the 1979 game w ith tlx? Utes. Uintah gained its first touchdown when Dave Emery darted one yard up the middle, but Green River's Fnk Peterson scored a touchdown and the Wolves gained a 7-6 lead due to a successful extra point kick. The Utes scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a lead of 29 to 7 Clark McClellan darted four y ards for a touchdown and scored the two-point conversion to give the Lies a 14-7 advantage. Rally Bedell recovered a Green River fumble and carried the ball to the Green River seven yard line Marty McCarrel darted one yard for the touchdown and Kirby Manwaring connected on the extra point kick The Utes' Kim Reid blocked a kick by Green River and lintah recovered the hall on the Wolves' 3d yard line and advanced it to the 13 yard line. Kay Smuin scampered 15 yards for the touchdown and McClellan scored the two point conversion Uintah scored two touchdowns in 31 seconds in the third quarter. The Utes' Reid nabbed a fumble on the Wolves' 20 and Emery ripped 20 yards up the field for a touchdown and Manwaring converted the extra jxiint kick Uintah kicked the hall to Croon River and the Wolves dropped the ball and it was recovered on the four yard line by Redoll. McClellan dashed four yards for the touchdown and Manwaring put the extra point kick through the uprights for a 43 7 lead The Utes spoiled Tooele's homecoming game in 1980 due to a 12 to 7 w in by the Uintah crew a week before the homecoming contest in Vernal. Tooele jumped out to a 7 0 lead in the first quarter w hen Don Deavila nabbed a 20 yard touchdown pass and Manchester Man-chester kicked the extra point through the uprights. However, lintah recovered from the touchdown by the Buffaloes when Pat Jenkins motored 80 yards for a touchdown touch-down on a punt return. Finery was a few inches short on the two point conversion attempt. The lies won the game w hen Mark Robb roared 16 yards down the right side of the field for a touchdown and a 12 7 Ute advantage w ith 22 seconds left in the third quarter. Uintah improved its game N-fore-the homecoming contest record to 13 with a 33 28 victory over Timpview . Sept. 18. The Utes jumped out to a 21 0 lead in the first half and Uintah's Handy Smuin scored three touchdowns Smuin scored a touchdow n on a 57 van! run early in the first quarter and Pat Jenkins darted one yard up the middle for a touchdown in the second quarter Smuin scons! a touchdown with three seconds left in the first half on a 17 yard pass play. Smuin added another touchdown touch-down on a four yard run in the fourth quarter and Jeff GiMd added a touch, down on a 25 yard pass in the end one in 0e filial quarter.
