ARTHUR CHASE Sawyer, Chase marry in Temple ceremony Wendy Sawyer and William Arthur Chase were married Friday, Sept. 11 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Elder Robert L. Backman, of the Council of Seventy, performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sawyer, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mr. William E. Chase of Murray. Following the wedding, a luncheon was held at the Hilton Inn Bonneville Room in Salt Lake City for friends and relatives. A wedding reception honoring the young couple was held at the Glines Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 12. The bride was lovely in a white, floor-length gown of silk organza with appliqued lace flowers and pearl beads on the V-shaped V-shaped lace yoke bodice and full skirt. The bottom ruffle of the dress and train was pleated and had lace edging. Wendy's long tapered veil had a lace and pearl bead edge with appliqued lace flowers, matching her dress. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink and white silk carnations and real red roses throughout the arrangement with long ribbon streamers. The Matron of Honor, Dawn Jorgensen, wore a light pink-flowered cotton polyester dress and carried a long-stemmed red rose with ribbon streamers. The bridesmaids, Coreena Sawyer and Sydney Weeks, wore dresses of deep rose polyester crepe featuring white lace insets on the bodice and a full skirt. They carried long-stemmed silk pink roses with long ribbon streamers. The bride's mother wore a burgandy polyester crepe de chine dress with white lace yoke and front ruffle. The groom's mother wore a pink polyester knit dress. Both mothers wore corsages of pink and while silk carnations. The groom was attired in a white, cut-away, long-tailed tuxedo and he was attended by bestmen, David Chase and David Caldwell, wearing burgundy tuxedos. Marilyn Rich sat at the guestbook table. Helping with refreshments in the kitchen were Beverly Manwaring and Sherill Rich; and serving were Jill Thomas, Jill Porter, Tracy Caldwell and Laylene Rich. Helping at the gift tables were Wendy T. Chase, Lurean Slaugh and Sherry Sawyer. Gift bearers were Jenny and Matt Sawyer and Ward and Gene Chase. The white, three-tiered wedding cake featured pink and burgundy roses, accented by a miniature glass Salt Lake Temple on top. An open house honoring the young couple was held Sept. 18 at the Murray 3rd Ward Chapel. Bridal showers were given by Sherill Rich and Beverly Manwaring, Rita and Wendy T. Chase, and Lurean Slaugh and Coreena Sawyer. Art and Wendy are making their home in Vernal. |
