Youth orchestra to present Spring Concert The Vernal Youth Orchestra, conducted con-ducted by Ora Fay Oviatt, will present their annual Spring Concert and Award Program, Friday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vernal Junior High auditorium. The orchestra, sponsored by the Community Schools, is divided into sections with Cindy Gale teaching viola, Marjean Oviatt teaching cello and Curtis May, Linda Hanberg, Katherine Day and Ora Fay Oviatt teaching violin. With the hope to train the children to be life-time musicians, 26 students began Orchestra I last fall, playing in unison with the piano. Orchestra II, an audition group of s five students, begins to play harmony , after two year's experience. i "With the community growth," Mrs. Oviatt said, "we need young musicians if we are going to have strong community com-munity productions." Each month the orchestra holds playoffs play-offs for students of the month, which has become very competitive with a three-way tie for this month's student of the month. Also, an award is given to the student with the most practice hours. I |
