Show 500 attend Big U Jamboree square dance Approximately 500 square dancers from Utah, Colorado and Wyoming attended at-tended last weekend's Big U Jamboree, sponsored by the Dinah Dancers Club of Vernal. Featured caller for the Jamboree Jam-boree was Fred Brown of Roosevelt. He called the Saturday afternoon workshop and the Saturday evening dance. Don Carleton of Wamsutter, Wyoming Wyom-ing called the Friday night dance, and Joan Lewis of Glenwood Springs, Colorado Col-orado cued the round dances for all three dances. Fifty Vernal merchants donated door prizes given away at the dance. The grand prize, won by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miles of Orangeville, Utah, was a large macramed hanging end table made by Kathy Allen, a member of the Dinah Dancers. The weekend festivities ended with an "after party" in the Jr. High auditorium. Those providing the entertainment enter-tainment were the Uintah High Hilites, Jan King and Julie Hansen, and Cliff Storey. Don Carleton and Fred Brown each did a comedy skit. Ron Pederson, caller for the Dinah Dancers, emceed the show. "The weekend was a great success" stated Pederson. The Dinah Dancers will begin their summer dancing schedule in June, when they will be dancing twice a month at the Bicentennial Pavilion. |
