Show Uinta Basin Field Largest Producer The most recently discovered dis-covered among the Rocky Mountain Region's "giant" "gi-ant" (100 million barrels or more) fields produced more oil during 1974 than any other of the Region's big fields. According to "Energy Information," a weekly report of key developments develop-ments in the energy field, published by Petroleum Information Corporation, Corpor-ation, a subsidiary of A.C. Nielsen Company, Greater Altamont area production for 1974 is estimated es-timated at nearly 22 million mil-lion barrels. Only Ran-gely Ran-gely field, in Colorado, comes close to this figure, fig-ure, at just over 20 million mil-lion barrels. The Altamont area had some 223 wells on production pro-duction during the year, with an average daily yield of 269 barrels per day. This exceeds the next highest per-well yield (at Rangely) by 78. However, it's not typical of Altamont, because not all the wells produced through the full year, and transportation facilities facil-ities continue to restrict Altamont area production. produc-tion. Some observers have credited Altamont as the mosf significant discovery discov-ery in the lower 48 states within the past decade. Cumulative production at the end of 1974 was a little lit-tle more than 46 million barrels. San Juan County, Utah oil fields, in terms of total production, still lead the State, Some 600 wells in the county last year produced nearly eight million barrles of oil bringing the cumulative cumulat-ive total to just under 320 million barrels notes Carlton Stowe, Mineral statistical specialist Utah Geological and Mineral Mi-neral Survey. The great- er Aneth field produced more than six million barrels in 1974. |
