Show Thomas Leads Devils to Victory In Final Game Of Season Sparked by the brilliant running of Morgan Thomas, sprint ace of the state, a fighting and much improved Red Devil team played championship ball b riday afternoon to whip out a surprisingly easy victory over the awed Spanish Fork Dons, 39-6. The victory was a fitting climax for Coach George Pehrson and his fine squad, which developed into one of the finest teams of the region. Friday's game was one of the most spectacular games seen on the local gridiron for many a day. It was spectacular in that practically practi-cally every touchdown that was made during the game came from a sensational 60-yard run or intercepted inter-cepted pass. Even the lone score of the Dons came as a result of a 78-yard returned punt to send the Forker fans into an uproar. By far the most spectacular running run-ning of the year was seen in Friday's Fri-day's game when Morgan Thomas sped down the field and across the goal line in 80, 55, and 60-yard sprints from well executed plays. His final run in the closing seconds of the game was particularly a thrilling race. Right behind Thomas' Thom-as' running was long-run scores made by Allan and Van Leuvan, who intercepted a pass and raced some 60 yards over the goal. Credit also for a touchdown and outstanding playing throughout the game must go to Bill Jones, outstanding Devil backfield man, who has r;halked up a brilliant power-driving record all season. In fact every player, Tuttle, Diamond, Dia-mond, A. Weight, Nebeker, Houtz, Larsen, Ottesen, D. Jones, G. Wright, Reed and Barker, along with the subs, played a fine game and finished in a blaze of glory. Springville ended one-half a game behind American Fork for fourth place in the region. Payson took the championship in a 7-6 battle at Lincoln. Friday's games closed league play throughout the region. Hoop practice will now fill the athletic agenda for the next five months.
