Show Bring'EmBackAlive By Robert H. Peirce Safety Chairman Junior Chamber of Commerce That's what we all want to do. Bring 'em back from school alive. School children are pedestrians and must be educated as to the responsibility to themselves. This can be done, but is a continuous process, and an important one. It is not something to be taken lightly with the need for caution mentioned only periodically. Remember' parents that your children only know what they are taught. They are taught not only by verbal instructions, but they also al-so learn by doing the things you a? adults do. To bring safety education to the children it must first be brought to, and emphasized in the home, through you as parents. This education edu-cation is not limited to the home either. When you are out walking with your children, don't set them bad examples by jay walking use the cross walks they are put there for you to use and for your protection. protec-tion. Don't cross the street against a red light, it is dangerous and may prove fatal to your child, who was merely following an example you set for him. Don't walk in the streets where there are sidewalks, they were made to use so use them and your children will do likewise. I Don't allow your children to play in the streets at any time it isn't only unwise and unsafe, but it is a very dangerous practice to let your children get into. That passing car may not see them until it is too late, and you would have only yourself to blame. Remember to teach safety, live safety, and live longer and "Bring 'Em Back Alive." |
