Show WESTERN UTAH ! VEIN EXTENSIVE Deposits From Which Big Shipments Are Made Show Great Size. The vein recently struck on the 700-foot 700-foot level of tha Western Utah Copper mine at Gold Hill has been drifted upon for a distance of 100 feet and proved by a crosscut to be fifty feet from hanging wall to footwall, according to Owen B Brinton, manager. Mr. Erlnton arrived iu the city yesterday from Gold Hil- Thl3 deposit, encountered on the TOO level, is an extension of that opened up in several levels above, from which extensive shipments ship-ments have been made daily. The drift, which has been driven along the footwall, has encountered ore values of consistently improving grade, Jt is said. An average sampling of the whole face of the drift at present shows values of 6 ounces of silver, 2 per cent lead and 1 per cent copper. Crosscuts of the vein will be made at intervals of 100 feet to determine the width and value of the ore body. Inasmuch as rich shoots of shipping ore were encountered in upper levels on either wall and sometimes in the low-grade low-grade mass, the management is confident that large shoots of shipping ore will be opened up on this level as the work progresses. pro-gresses. Shipments of 100 tons of ore per day from the upper levels are being made steadily to the Mldvale smelter, it is said. A shortage of water has prevented the mill from operating more than one shift a day. An unusually heavy fall of snow last week is expected to give the district an adequate supply of water for all purposes. pur-poses. One carload of copper concentrates will be shipped each week. The tungsten concentrates, which are running about 77 per cent tungstlc oxide, are being held for shipment at some future time when the matter of a protective tariff on the metal has been settled. |
