The "wets' " majority in the still undecided vote on the federal prohibition amendment amend-ment stood at 644 tonight. County returns are being verified and many must be returned to the counties for correction, necessitating still further delay. It was the opinion of election officials that the balance of gains and losses will be maintained as errors are detected in the additions of the precinct figures. They said it may be a week before the result can be officially proclaimed, even if no protests against the questionable returns of four counties are made. The return from precinct A of the Fifth ward of Dayton is considered particularly open to challenge. The vote In 1917 was ISO for prohibition, 108 against. In 1918 the vote in the precinct was 143 for prohibition pro-hibition to S3 against. The vote was officially recorded this year as 137 for ratification, fix against it.
