Show Ailll! COMSS HKFMHS Idaho Men Arrive to Arrange Ar-range Details of Irrigation Irriga-tion Meeting. To establish a fixed policy In regard to Irrigation and reclamation work in general gen-eral throughout the twelve arid western etates, is the chief aim of Governor D. W. Davis of Idaho, who invited officials and experts on the subject In each of these stales to attend a conference to be held at tho Hotel Utah on November 21 and 22. Those interested believe that a policy may be developed which will give investors' invest-ors' confidence necessary to undertake the work on a large scale, according to Frank W. Brown, seeretarv to Governor Davis, who was In Salt Lake yesterday preparing for the conference. Mr. Brown Is accompanied accom-panied by W. G. Swensen, Idaho commissioner com-missioner of reclamation. According to Mr. Brown, the conference confer-ence will not undertake to have any definite defi-nite legislation proposed in congress, but Its purpose rather will be to establish a fixed policy between the states and the federal government in irrigation matters. "The principal work of the conference and probably the point Governor Davis will emphasize most in his opening address, ad-dress, will be the need for a permanent organization end a plea for the conference confer-ence not to adjourn until permanent organization or-ganization is effected." Mr. Brown said. "After this is accomplished It is possible that a committee will be designated to take Into consideration all general work for the benefit of any or all of the states. In this way the fixed policy will be maintained main-tained and each ur.it of the organization will keep in touch with the work of all other units." C. J. Blanchard, publicity director of the United States reclamation service, Will give a lecture, with moving pictures, at the tabernacle on the evening of November No-vember 21. Mr. Blanchard's subject will be "Reclamation of Our Inland Empire." The lecture will be open to the public, and a special invitation has been extended ex-tended to the students or the Utah Agricultural Agri-cultural college to attend. About 400 representatives are expected to be present at the coming conference. |
