Show YAKIMA FIREMEN WILL QUIT UNION YAKIMA. Wash.. Nov. 10. Yakima's former firemen who walked out on W&dnesdav have been advised by W. t. Brown of Spokane, dlstrtel vice president of the International Firefighters' association associa-tion to tear up tliclr union charter and forget about it for the present, lie said that his Investigation showed lhat the people of this community would not stand for a unionized fire department. It Is understood that his advice will be taken, though no notice of such action has as yet been made public. At a special meeting of the city commissioners com-missioners and chief Way H. Hare, who was released from duty this niornlnp. the commissioners went over the list of former for-mer firemen and selected those they would reinstate In ease they droo their union affiliation. About two-thirds may he taken back. V. C. Parham. assistant chief of the Ellensburg department, is now temporary chief and has been loaned to Yakima for the work by TCllensburc. The strike Is regarded as completely broken. |
