Show CHURCH IRK QRI LAKES Episcopalians Name Commission Com-mission for Religious Campaign. Special to Tiie Tribune. SAN FRANCISCO, Xov. 10. With the naming by the general convention of the Episcopal church of the commission of fifteen to have chargo of the forthcoming forthcom-ing nation-wide campaign of that church throughout America, active parish organization organ-ization work is rapidly being completed throughout the Eighth province, which embraces eight western states. As head of the organization which will conduct the campaign for an increase in church work Is Henry P. Davison, who was director of the American Red Cross during the war period and one of the notable no-table figures in American flna ncial 11 To. Other notable churchmen and laymen included in-cluded in the commission are Bishop Charles P. Anderson of Chicago, chairman; chair-man; Bishop John G. Murray of Maryland, Mary-land, Bishop Arthur S. Lloyd, Bishop Frederick F. Reese of Georgia. Bishop Charles Sumner Burch of New York, the Rev. Ernest M. Stires of Xew York, the Rev. Edward S. Rouamaniere of Massachusetts, Massa-chusetts, the Rev. .lames K. Freeman of Minnesota, the Rev. "William H. M ill on of East Carolina, the Rev. Frank H. Nelson of southern Ohio. Arthur Woods of New York, George Wharton Pepper of Philadelphia. Burton Mansfield of New Haven. Conn., and Oliver J. Sands cf Richmond, Ya. One of the important ends sought In the forthcoming Episcopal campaign is the recognition of the necessity for higher salaries for the Episcopal clergy, so that the clergyman- shall be enabled "to do his work as a leader of the church with efficiency and self-respect." |
