Show CARS BADLY NEEDED TO MOVE POTATOES Growers in Idaho Also Want Extra Charge Order of Government R-escinded. Special to The Tribune. POCATELLO, Idaho, Feb. 1. In resolutions passed at a meeting of the potato growers and shippers of the Upper Snake Biver valley, tho United States food administrator is urged to call upon hotels and restaurants again to serve potatoes with all meat orders without extra charge. It is set forth that during the period when the price of potatoes was unusually unusu-ally high, the practice of making an extra charge : for potatoes served with meals was established, and that this has seriously affected their consumption. consump-tion. Now that their price is again normal, it is contended that this practice prac-tice should be discontinued in justice to the potato growers, many of whom still have large quantities on hand which they have been unable to ship on account, of lack of cars. Resolutions also were adopted calling upon the government to provide the large number of additional refrigerator cars required to move the balance of the Idaho potato crop. It is stated that 4000 carloads are still on hand in Idaho, and that unless thev can be marketed mar-keted within the next sixty days the losses will be very heavv. |
