Show Italians Hold Ground. RO Feb. 1. The text of the communication says: After repeated unsuccessful attempts at-tempts to regain lost ground in the area of Sasso Rosso, the enemy initiated ini-tiated yesterday morning a stronger action with the object of driving us off the Monte di Val Bella, from where our troops had reached, by a sudden thrust at dawn, the head of the Teiago valley. The attack, however, how-ever, was broken before it reached our line by the effective co-operation of our artillery, which met the assailants as-sailants with a powerful barrage fire and compelled them to retire to their starting position. On the remainder of the front there was moderate artillery activity. In 'iiudicana we repulsed by our hand grenades fire enemy detachments which were attempting to approach our line. Activity by our patrols is reported between the Posina and Astico. Last night enemy aircraft dropped bombs on" Bassa.no. A tew persons were wounded. Only slight material damage was done. |
