America, through the use of the Liberty motor, will decide de-cide Lhe supremacy of the air in the world war, according to Major L. C. Eck-enfclder Eck-enfclder of the French military mission, who tipoke here today. Major Ecken-felder Ecken-felder represented M. Andre Tardieu, French hiph commissioner, at a banquet of the Society of Automotivo Engineers. "Who will decide the superiority in the air? You have the answer here," Major Eckenfelder said. "It will be you. The construction of the Liberty motor will solve the problem. It is tho motor of the future the motor of victory. "Whether or not the wax is to be won by airplanes is a moot question. It is sure, however, that wo need all the motors, all tho airplanes America, caji make and we need them now. "We need all kinds of motors, too. I have only to think of those days at Verdun Ver-dun to realize the importance of motors to the armies of the allies, when motor trucks took up the work of transportation, transporta-tion, carrying troops, ammunition, supplies sup-plies and carrying for the wounded. " Major Eckenf eider also told of the success of the British "tanks" and spoke in glowing- terms of American ambulances and the good work done by them. He added that American tractors are driving driv-ing plows and cultivators and "taking the place of the French peasant fighting for- his country." |
