Wallace, former executive officer of the t'nited States naval training station at Balboa Park, San Diego, Cal., and a well-known Salt Laker, is en route to this citv from San Diego, where he has been stationed during the past year. Lieutenant Commander Wallace has been ordered to Salt Lake to take charge of the recruiting for -the "jackies" in this section and will take the place of Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Commander W. K. Madden, who has been assigned to the "U. S. S. Ore-gun Ore-gun as executive officer of Admiral Dewev's flagship. Both Lieutenant Madden and Lieutenant Lieuten-ant Wallace were members of the graduating gradu-ating class at Annapolis during the li)06 season and both men have always been the best of friends. Lieutenant Wallace is the, son of II. J. Wallace, well-known Salt Laker, and together with his wife Is making the trip from the coast to Salt Lake by automobile. Lieutenant Wallace has the distinction of being aboard one of America's battleships bat-tleships as commanding officer on the first trip overseas after Uncle Sam declared de-clared war on the Huns, Lieutenant Wallace Wal-lace was In direct charge, and the first i men in khaki who went to the battle-; battle-; field were aboard the ships which were i under Ids command.
