Show GREATER EFFORT TO CONTROL DISEASE NEW YORK. Nov. 29. Renewed effort ef-fort during the period of demobilization and reconstruction on the part of all agencies engaged In the work of disease dis-ease control was urged here today by Dr. C. C. Pierce, assistant surgeon general of the public health service, in an address before fifteen social workers from all parts of the country. Asserting that there had been a relaxation re-laxation of effort by some of these agencies, agen-cies, Dr. Pierce declared that "the work which has been started as a war measure is just as essential as areconstruction measure." "AH prosperity and efficiency, health and happiness." Dr. Pierce said, "depend upon tlie physical fitness of the great mass nf citizens." Kpeeir-.l attention should be given, he declared, to efforts to lessen the dan-per-j attending the return to civil life of soldiers infected with social diseases. |
