Show HERE'S HOW TO FIND NAME ON DRAFT LIST First Ascertain Correct Serial Number From Exemption Ex-emption District Board. TO FIXD your position in the draft follow these instructions: First ascertain from your exemption district board your correct serial number. Salt Lake City has four exemption boards and Salt Lake county outside of Salt Lake City has two boards. Ogden City has one board and Weber county outside of Ogden has one board. Each other county in the state has but one board, including the cities in those counties. This gives a total of thirtv-f our. exemption boards in the state of Utah. Second, having ascertained your serial number, consult the table marked Table No. 1, and therefrom learn the tctal number of registrations in your exemption boad district and also the total number of men called for by tho government on the first draft from your exemption board district. j Third, consult the table of serial numbers drawn in Washington which apply ap-ply to Utah and which are numbered consecutively, the latter for the purpose ', of determining in which order the numbers become liable to draft in the state. 1 Having f ounil your number in the serial table, notice the consecutive number ' at the left that is, whether you are eligible number 01 or 102 or 103 ,etc. I Then, keeping in mind the total number of registrations in your exemp- ', tion board district, count the number of serial numbers which precede you in 1 the serial table. This will give you your position in relation to the total num- i ber of men to be drawn from your district. . ! For example, if vour serial number is 7S3 and your residence, the first; exemption board district of Salt Laks City: . 1 Consulting Table No. 1, you find that in the first exemption board district , of Salt Lake City there are a total of 2370 registrations, and that a total of , 121 men from that district are to be sent to the front. In the serial table 783 j will be found to be the twenty-fifth number drawn for service from the ENTIRE state of Utah. Now count back the numbers from your position m the serial table and you find that there are nine numbers which precede you, I that is '58, 458, 1436, 854, 1894, 1878, 1095, 2022 and 1455. Your position therefore in liability in the district is ten. The total draft table shows you that 121 men are to come from your district, and hence unless you can establish exemption you are sure to go. . If however there should have been but eighteen men wanted from your district as for example, Wayne county, and your position in the serial list showed'vou to be fifty-fifth of the 178 men registered in that county, you would; not no on the-first call. The government estimates that approximately one-half one-half of the numbers drawn will be exempted. Hence, if your position number is enual to or less than the total number of men needed from your district you probably will go on the first call, ."your position number is greater tnan Souble the number of men to be drafted irom your district you will not go on the first call but on succeeding calls, dependent upon your position.
