Show ' Egyptian Pundit Again in Durancs Soon Gets Release Dr. Farid Puts in Another Day of Kaleidoscopic Changes in Fortune. AFTER an eventful day, including automobile rides at the expense of the eity and county of Salt Lake, lunch at the city jail and dinner at the county prison, Dr, Ahmid Farid, Egyptian pundit and bon vivant, last nijiht returned to his apartment at the Newliouse hotel, worn and fatigued. Ke juicing among the inmates ol t he city jail over the unexpected return of Dr. Karid, who is charged with desecration desecra-tion of the Tinted States liny, was short lived. The Egyptian, after a few hours' conversation with his old jail companions, was torn from the company of his admirers late in the afternoon and conveyed to the county jail in an irridiseent yellow official automobile from the sheriff's office. After a consultation with hia client at the county jail earlier in tho evening, even-ing, Attorney Robert R. AVedekiud, Dr. Farid 's legal advisor, at. 10 o'clock last night provided the $100 cash bail required re-quired for the prisoner s release. Dr. Farid 's arrest ivas effected by three uniformed policemen and three : plainclothes men yesterday shortly before be-fore noon. The officers appeared at the hotel about Jl o'clock and proceeded to the learned Egyptian's room on the fifth floor. Dr. Farid was still in bed, and the door was locked. A vigorous rap on the door aroused him from his slumbers. ' ' Oh, doctor, ' ' shouted Patrolman Georpe Harris, "I have a warrant for yotir arrest.'1 "I don 't know heem. take heem away,' came the Egyptian's mellow voice through the keyhole. Refusing to grant the officers admission, admis-sion, Dr. Farid leisurely went about his toilet. Finally, after he had been keeping the officers waiting for almost an hour, during which interval several unsuccessful attempts were made to gain access to his room through the transom, tran-som, Dr. Farid, faultlessly arrayed in his formal attire, and with silk hat in hand, opened the door and walked gravely into the hall. With a noisy "drunk" as his companion he was driven to headquarters.
