To test the city's right to reinsure its employees under the workmeu's compensation law, after having determined deter-mined to carry its own liability, a suit was filed in the Third district court yesterday. J. H. Lamont, a prominent labor union man, is the plaintiff and Salt Lake City, the Agency company and tho Guardian Casualty & Guaranty Co. are the defendants. 'The plaintiff sets forth that the a.c-tiou a.c-tiou is brought on behalf of himself and other taxpayers. J-Je asks that the city .be restrained from making an initial ! premium payment of $100 on a blanket insurance policy, designed to ;tovide I for reinsurance of citv employees who j are regarded as extra "hazards. A temporary tem-porary restraining order was issued by Judge Harold M. Stephens. It is understood that the action is brought because of the conviction on the part of labor representatives that the municipality should carry its insurance with the state, thereby lending its financial fi-nancial support to the working out of the workmen's compensation law. |
