Show PIT GILBERT 15 TOO MUCH If ITERS Local Boys Win in Manhattan Manhat-tan Club; Azevedo Puts Down Sanders. Pat Gilbert, state lightweight, led Walt Walters of Denver a merry six rounds u t the Manhattan club last night and I came out with the long end of the purse. Walters, however, proved to be a boxer of no mean ability and for three rounds held the local boy even. A right swing of Gilbert's, following a clinch in the second frame, caught the Denver lad flush on the jaw and for a time it looked like curtains. Walt celeverly covered himself during the remainder of the round and came up fresh for .the third. The next three rounds belonged to anyone. any-one. Walters led many times with a right swing that Pat could not get away from and by clever blocking evaded punishment during the rushes of the boilermaker. At times Pat would find an opening and land with such force that the fans looked at a spot on the mat where they expected Walt to land. However, he proved that he could assimilate punishment and stand up well. During the closing round Pat led out with several that found their mark and at the hell Walt was hanging on the boilermaker and badly dazed. ' Young Azevedo continued his work of showing all comers that he was the king ; of the featherweights here when he won a good decision over Frankie Sanders of New York. The only draw of the evening, with the exception of the curtain raiser, was given out following four fast rounds between Kid Dutch and Swede Johnson. Dutch had it over Swede for cleverness and Swede had the lead when it came to hard hitting. The draw decision was popular with the fans. Kid Wood hays, a newcomer at the Manhattan club, pounded Kid Holi around i for four rounds. Holt went after his man to finish him quick at the opening bell, but was sent spinning to the ropes.
