Show MRS. BRITTON GETS DECREE OF DIVORCE ST. LOUIS, Feb. 12. Mrs. Helene Hathway Britton, owner of the St-Louis St-Louis Nationals, today was divorced from Schuyler Britton, former president of the club. Phe was awarded the custody cus-tody of the two children. Mrs. Britton testified that Mr. Britton "squandered her means to such an extent ex-tent that her property was imperiled." The decree, which was granted by Circuit Cir-cuit Judge Garesche. provided that Britton Brit-ton is to be permitted to visit the children chil-dren on the first and third Saturdays of every month. In her petition for divorce Mrs. Britton charged her husband with habitual drunkenness and vagrancy. She declared he associated with "uncouth persons" and "applied profane language to her alone and In the presence of strangers." Britton did not appear in court and no evidence was offered in his behalf. Britton was ousted from the presidency of the Cardinals on the day after he was sued for a divorce by his wife, who assumed as-sumed the position herself. The Brit tons were married in Cleveland October 29, 1901, and separated November 13, 19L6. They lived in St. Louis during the last four years of their married life. |
